Emerging trends in educational technology are more aptly described as explosive trends. Internet communication tools are developing at a rapid rate. Technological tools listed on technology related blogs and websites are often outdate within months of being listed. It is imperative that educational technologists; deemed as "advocates of change; and as "legitimate source of expertise" by Spector, aggressively identify, analyze, and evaluate new technologies that enter the arena of Web 2.0 technologies (Spector, 2013, p. 29).
